A Hanoi practice built on walking stores

Birchcore Market Review Co., Ltd. was established in 2016 to give retail operators an independent view of how neighborhood chain branches perform on the ground.

Two field reviewers comparing notes outside a neighborhood mini-mart in Hanoi

Official name and origin

The official registered business name is Birchcore Market Review Co., Ltd. We opened in 2016 from a small desk near Lac Long Quan street in Tay Ho District, Hanoi, after years of informal branch walks for friends running mini-mart franchises.

Early work focused on weekend corridor notes for a handful of grocery banners. Demand grew among district supervisors who wanted photographs and plain-language comparisons rather than long strategy decks. By 2019 we formalized visit checklists for storefronts, queues, and category bays. Today the same patience guides every Neighborhood Chain Store Review we deliver.

Mission

We help retail teams see their neighborhood outlets the way residents experience them—through doors, baskets, and the rival store across the alley—so coaching and remodel decisions rest on shared field evidence.

How we work

Reviewers schedule quiet weekday visits, walk the agreed outlets, and write while the details are still sharp. We avoid theatrical mystery-shop scripts. When staff awareness is required, we coordinate with the supervisor first. Findings stay tied to observable shelf, floor, and street conditions.

People

Our core team combines former store coaches and researchers who know Hanoi’s apartment corridors, wet-market edges, and evening bike traffic. Field pairs rotate so no single reviewer becomes too familiar with one banner’s habits.

Values

  • Specific notes over vague praise or blame
  • Respect for store staff and local courtesy around photography
  • Writing that a branch manager can use the same week
  • Clear boundaries: we review public store conditions, not confidential ledgers
